SpadaConcept TS Codatronca To Go Into Production
The SpadaConcept TS (Turismo Sportivo) Codatronca is set to go into production.
Top Gear reports that 20 of these Batmobile-esque cars would be made, with a price tag upwards of ₤200,000 (or US$394,000)
The Italian design studio founded by Paolo Spada and his father Ercole, who was the former chef designer at Zagato and BMW, will team up a group of Turin-based firms to build the stealthy supercar, including the FS Group, Italtecnica, Sparco, Pirelli and OZ Racing.
Ercole says the car’s styling draws inspiration from the 1964 Alfa Giulia TZ, which he designed, and will house a supercharged Corvette-based LS7 V8 engine in the front-mid section. This delivers a power of 600bhp, which propels the Codatronca to top speeds of 340 km/h (or 211 mph).
A more powerful version of the TS, called the Turismo Super Sportivo, is already under test at the company, and is scheduled for launch in the later part of 2008. Spadaconcept has also lined up plans to work on an environmentally friendly version that feeds on bio-ethanol.
